Social Media And Its’ Effect On Black Youth.
ELIGIBILITY:
All contestants shall be citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States, and presently enrolled in grades 6 through 12, in a Lake, Orange, Osceola or Seminole County Middle or High School (public, parochial, military or private). Home schooled students are eligible. Competition is open to the public, with no admission charge. Schools and the public, generally, are invited to cooperate with the Foundation in promoting this educational enterprise. Constructive criticisms and suggestions are considered by the Committee at its annual retreat.

ABOUT THE EVENT
The Belford V. Lawson Oratorical Contest allows middle and high school students to demonstrate their oratorical skills in a competitive but educational format.
The purpose of the Belford V. Lawson Oratorical Contest is to identify problems or special topics of interest within society and determine how the problem or topic relates to the goals and objectives of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
Belford V. Lawson
Belford Vance Lawson Jr. (1901 – 1985) was an American attorney and civil rights activist who made at least eight appearances before the U.S. Supreme Court. He was the first African-American man to win a case before the Supreme Court and the sixteenth General President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.
The Hankins / Johnson Foundation
The Hankins/Johnson Education Foundation, Inc. is the non-profit charitable arm of the Delta Xi Lambda Chapter, which focuses on scholarship, programs and training and development of the youth.
The Hankins/Johnson Education Foundation encompasses the implementation The Belford V. Lawson Oratorical Contest as well as other programs and initiatives.
